Mr. Steve McCarville
Mr. McCarville teaches history, geography and religion for grades 6-8 at Holy Name. He is in his fifth year at HN and has taught in the education profession for over 30 years.
Steve grew up in eastern Iowa and has a fascination with the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Packers. In high school he was involved in FTA, football, wrestling, and plays. In college he was in student government, plays and was a radio announcer. His wife, Susan, is a nurse and they have four children and one daughter-in-law. Two of the children work in the insurance industry, one is a PhD. candidate in entomology at Iowa State and the youngest just started college at Wayne State, all four are alumni of Roncalli Catholic High School.
He has been a wrestling scorekeeper, baseball umpire, softball player, golfer, hunter, and fisherman as an adult. Mr. McCarville has quite a lot of experience teaching teachers how to teach geography, has worked for National Geographic, and enjoys travelling. He has worked with the ADL and Southern Poverty Law Center/Teaching Tolerance. At the Archdiocesan level, he has worked on several projects including adult retreats, marriage encounter, father-son retreat, and the men's annual conference. He is a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and am on the steering committee for That Man is You for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. He teaches Religious Education at St. James for their PRE division and am also a EMHC.
